B20 Employment Taskforce Chair speaks at the G20 Labor and Employment Ministerial Meeting

The G20 Labor and Employment Ministerial Meeting was held in Beijing from July 12 to 13, 2016. Chinese Vice-Premier Ma Kai attended the opening and delivered a speech.


At the meeting, labor and employment ministers from G20 members and guest countries, as well as officials and representatives from the related international organizations, social partners and participating organizations, held discussions on topics including expansion of employment opportunities, enhancement of job skills and improvement of employment quality. 

Li Yanhong, Chair of the B20 Employment Taskforce and CEO of Baidu Inc, led a B20 delegation in a dialogue between labor and employment ministers and social partners and participating organizations.  

He introduced the 2016 B20 policy recommendations concerning promoting mass entrepreneurship and innovation, increasing employment of youth and women and reducing problems arising from skill mismatch, and also expressed the B20’s willingness to take an active part in the G20-proposed action plan on innovation to further push forward innovation and entrepreneurship. 

The G20 Labor and Employment Ministerial Meeting adopted some relevant recommendations in the B20 policy paper, and endorsed the G20 Labor and Employment Ministers’ Declaration, which advocates promotion of innovation and inclusive growth for the sake of higher quality, more abundant and better market-adapted employment opportunities.
