A welcome reception for the participants to the 2016 B20 Summit was held by the 2016 B20 Host Committee and the Zhejiang municipal government on the evening of September 2. About 800 people from renowned companies, business associations, international organizations and think tanks of G20 countries and guest countries attended.

Jiang Zengwei, the 2016 B20 Chair and Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) extended his warm welcome to Chinese and foreign participants to the B20 Summit.

After almost a year’s hard work, the 2016 B20 has entered its harvest season, with the B20 Summit set to open on September 3, Jiang said in his speech.

Jiang said that the 2016 B20 has aligned its work closely with the theme of the B20 Hangzhou Summit, while adhering to the principles of consistency and innovation, Jiang said.

Centering on the key issues in global economic development and the major concerns of various parties, the 2016 B20 has set six priorities – financing growth, trade and investment, infrastructure, SME development, employment and anti-corruption – and set up relevant taskforces containing more than 500 members. Furthermore, it has organized 50-plus special workshops and an anti-corruption forum. More than 3,900 business representatives, experts and scholars have participated in multiple discussions, exchanged ideas and views and made policy recommendations. Based on consensuses garnered from various communities, we have provided the 2016 Policy Recommendations to the G20, which consist of 20 policy recommendations and 76 specific measures. The fruitful work over the past year or so has laid a solid foundation for a successful B20 Summit, Jiang said.

Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the B20 opening and deliver a keynote speech, and several G20 leaders and heads of international organizations will also interact with business representatives at various sessions of the meeting, Jiang said. He hoped that participants will actively attend discussions, have frank exchanges of views and productive brainstorm sessions in order to make wise policy recommendations to G20 leaders and contribute to building an innovative, invigorated, interconnected and inclusive world economy.

Hangzhou Mayor Zhang Hongming also delivered a speech, extending a warm welcome to participants on behalf of the municipal government and citizens and wishing the 2016 B20 a great success.

Business leaders also expressed their hope that the 2016 B20 Summit would be successful.
